Please note that this is a half day theory course - Updated Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (Restricted) course meeting the requirements laid down under Article IX of the STCW78 convention, as amended. Not for use on vessels fitted with davit launched liferafts. This is also referred to as the Advanced Sea Survival Refresher. This course is valid for ’Yacht’ CoCs only.

PrerequisitesPersonal Survival Techniques (STCW Code A-VI/1-1) , Proficiency in Survival Craft And Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (Restricted)
Requirements- I have a sufficient level of spoken and written English to understand the course content and to pass any verbal or written assessments.
- You must declare that you have received some form of onboard training in the following tasks to permit entry onto this half-day refresher course:
- 1 - Take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch
- 2 - Interpret the markings on survival craft as the number of persons they are intended to carry
- 3 - Give correct commands for launching and boarding survival craft, clearing the yacht and handling and disembarking persons from survival craft
- 4 - Prepare and safely launch survival craft and clear the yacht’s side quickly
- 5 - Safely recover survival craft and rescue boats
- 6 - Manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship
- 7 - Steer a rescue boat by compass
- 8 - Use individual items of equipment of survival crafts, except for pyrotechnics
- 9 - Rig devices to aid location
- 10 - Use locating devices, including communication, and signaling apparatus
- 11 - Use of portable radio equipment for survival craft
- 12 - Apply first aid to survivors
