This course forms one of the 3 modules required to obtain the MCA Small Vessel Chief Engineer less than 3000gt, 9000kw qualification. It is 5 days with a written exam at the end. The following topics are covered: material technology, heat treatment of steel, testing of materials, joining materials, corrosion, GRP & FRP, instrumentation, control engineering and engineering drawing.
