We have been seeing more entry level crew joining the industry than ever before, so this course is aimed at helping as many crew, agents, management companies and yachts, by providing new crew with as much information as possible prior to joining.

STCW Basic Safety Training is a mandatory requirement, teaching you valuable life saving skills, but it does not, however, cover the essentials of knowing what the industry standards are, the expectations or what real life is like onboard.

This is the only accredited online course for the new generation of crew coming into this exclusive, incredible industry, in any department, with a full career ladder.

The standards are set high, you need to be as prepared as possible!

This course is now a recommended industry standard to complete either prior to STCW BST or after, created to prepare you with the knowledge, professionalism and confidence required to start your superyacht career.

Immersed with exciting videos, footage, original photos from crew onboard, a quiz after each section, assignments you really will enjoy and a Zoom call at the end to discuss your future career.

Just some of the topics covered are:

  • Demographics and life onboard
  • Seamanship terminology
  • Tour through a 3D 90m superyacht where you will learn the terminology of all the areas onboard
  • Phonetic radio use and the phonetic alphabet
  • What courses you need joining the industry
  • A full career ladder for each department, deck, engineering, interior, galley, administration and what is required to get there

  • What is a SEA contract and why is it important?

  • Crew agents, including a detailed account of what their job entails and how you can professionally sign up with them
  • Superyacht CV creation, with examples and highlighting your life skills
  • Different types of yachts, pros and cons
  • Atlantic crossings
  • What is a ’watch’ and the various different types
  • Yacht crew mental health awareness, out posting contacts and companies relating to this, personal health and well-being

  • Different departments and their roles and responsibilities
  • Career pathways
  • Hierarchy and chain of command
  • Shore side superyacht providers, yacht managers, DPAs, agents and more
  • Standards of behaviour and attitudes expected
  • How to greet guests onboard
  • Different cultures onboard, religions and religious cultures
  • Honorifics - various titles you may have onboard and how to address them - with a fun video presentation!
  • The four pillars and what they represent
  • New crew orientation - what can you expect on your first day

And much more!

Exclusive to Bluewater, we have a taster version of the course, so you can preview a small part of the content.

This is the best resource out there for new crew, affordable and all online.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank and commend Sarah for the IAMI GUEST An Introduction to Superyachts & Yachting Life, Unit 23, online course. I believe there is an overwhelming amount of information available that can lead to confusion among crew members, and this course serves as an excellent introduction, complementing the knowledge gained from the STCW Basic Safety Training course".
