Not sure where to go on your next sailing vacation? With its abundance of beautiful coves, bays, and sandy beaches, Sicily offers rugged beauty and rustic grandeur.
24 July 2015
The Island used to be independent from the mainland before 1860, when it was known as the Kingdom of Sicily. It is situated off the south west peninsular of Italy and is separated from the mainland by the Messina strait. It is a mountainous Island but rich in agriculture, culture and history. Sicily has been for thousands of years a crucial trading place for ships passing to and from the Mediterranean.
Today you can explore the island’s great history by way of the ruins and tombs left behind by the waves of conquerors- the Greeks, the Romans and the Arabs. Or simply relax and enjoy the scenery- anchor off at San Vito Lo Copo and dine at a luxury beach picnic set up by your yacht’s crew, white cloth tables set up on the sand and lanterns burning as the sun falls behind the Sicilian mountains.
