World famous chefs that have joined us

We’ve been truly humbled by the incredible chefs who have chaired the jury at the Superyacht Chef Competition over the years.

In 2019, we were honored to have Michelin-starred Chef Jacques Maximin preside over the event, bringing his exceptional expertise to the competition.

In 2022, another Michelin-starred chef, Nicolas Sale, took the lead. He shared his insights on the challenges faced by chefs in the competition: “40 minutes to produce a dish is not long, but the participants showed incredible energy.”
Chef Sale also spoke about the unique challenges of cooking at sea: “Cooking at sea is something very special; it’s another vision of the profession. Chefs on superyachts, like those on land, must produce excellence under pressure, often in restricted spaces.”

For the 2023 edition, we were privileged to have the renowned Yannick Alléno, a two-time three-Michelin-star chef, chair the jury.
Often regarded as one of the world’s greatest chefs, Chef Alléno is also globally recognized for pioneering Modern Cuisine, a movement he began in 2013.
He shared his perspective on the challenges faced by superyacht chefs: “You have to be very creative when you cook on a yacht. It’s a huge task to prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea in a very small kitchen. I believe it’s the toughest position in the culinary world.” Chef Alléno praised the creativity of the competitors, noting the pressure of having only 40 minutes to cook with unfamiliar ingredients, while also being mindful of waste: “Food is so precious today, we must always think about it.”

In 2024, Chef Glenn Viel, a three-Michelin-star chef and jury member from the French TV show Top Chef, took the reins.
He was joined by a distinguished panel including Victoria Vallenilla, a finalist from Objectif Top Chef; Julien Roucheteau, a two-Michelin-star chef and former student of the prestigious Ferrandi School in Paris; and Fred Ramos, a former mentee of the legendary Chef Jacques Maximin, who also served as a previous jury member.
Chef Ramos was on hand to judge both the preparation and the final dishes, bringing his valuable experience and insight to the competition.

Each year, the chefs who have graced our jury have brought their unparalleled expertise and passion, elevating the Superyacht Chef Competition to new heights.
