Superyacht Chef Competition - Are You Ready!

Nine chefs working on 40m+ superyachts will go head-to-head for a nail-biting competition on the 3rd of April at the Monaco Yacht Club!

What would you create?

We are partnering with Monaco Yacht Club and La Belle Classe Academy once again for this competition.

Every year, we highlight the talented chefs in the yachting industry, bringing together yacht owners, captains, crew and industry professionals for one spectacular day.

The nine chef participants will be finalised by mid-February - if you’re onboard and you’ve got the knives to take on the competition, drop us an email to request details.

Each chef is given a mystery box of ingredients from Metro and Gourmet Deliveries, and they race against the clock to create an impressive dish for our renowned jury.

Winning Dishes

2022 winning dish:

Nicolas Petit was crowned the 2022 champion with his duck breast, mousseline of peas and black garlic accompanied by baby carrots and duck jus, followed by a tuile with pineapple roasted in rosemary.

2023 winning dish:

Marco Tognon reigned supreme, delighting the jury with his Brittany lobster ceviche, caviar and avocado mousse with parmesan, whipped cream, vodka and vanilla bean, following up with Champagne and vanilla poached pineapple with mascarpone.

2024 winning dish:

In 2024, yacht chef Paulo Ucha Longhin took the crown for his exquisite dish of glazed lobster, hazelnut butter and bisque, a lemon tartare and caviar, followed by a dessert of mascarpone cream with cocoa and strawberry tartare with basil and lemon cream.

Paulo will create a menu for the yacht club members at a special dinner in March as part of his chef comp win, and he will join the jury for this year’s superyacht chef competition.

What will 2025 bring us?

Chefs Glenn Viel, Yannick Alleno, Nicolas Sale & Jacques Maximin

We have been humbled by the chefs who have presided over the superyacht chef competition jury.

In 2019, we welcomed Michelin-starred great Chef Jacques Maximin to preside over the day, and in 2022, we had Michelin-starred chef Nicolas Sale oversee the event; “40 minutes to produce a dish is not long,” insists Nicolas Sale, “but participants showed lots of positive energy”. The admiration is mutual between Chefs who work ashore and those at sea: “Cooking at sea is something very special; it’s another vision of the profession. They are like us as they have to produce excellence to order in a restricted space”.

The 2023 edition was chaired by the two-time three-Michelin-star chef Yannick Alléno, who is considered by many to be one of the world’s greatest chefs
He is also globally recognised for masterminding Modern Cuisine, a movement he initiated in 2013.

“You have to be very creative. When you are onboard, you have to cook breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea. It’s a huge work in a very small kitchen. I think it’s the most difficult position in the chef industry.
In the competition, we can see how they’re so creative. They don’t know the product, and they only have 40 minutes to cook, so they have to be very quick. We have to think about the waste. The food is so precious today, so we have to think about it, of course,” added Alleno.

The three-starred Chef and jury member from the French TV show Top Chef, Glenn Viel, succeeded chef Yannick Alléno in 2024 alongside an impressive panel with "Objectif Top Chef" finalist Chef Victoria Vallenilla, two Michelin star chef and former student of the Ferrandi school in Paris, Chef Julien Roucheteau, and former mentee of the famous chef Jacques Maximin (also a previous jury member of the chef competition!), Chef Fred Ramos, who was on hand to judge both the preparation and the final dishes.
