Mandatory Course for Engineering CoC

Bluewater in Palma has been approved by the MCA to deliver the Workshop Skills Training Course, which is mandatory for those starting out on the Small Vessel Route.

We are the first training centre to deliver this course.

• This is a requirement for Engineer Officer of the Watch Small Vessel (EOOW - previously SV 2nd Engineer) 
• SV EOOW candidates will have to complete this course, unless granted exemption due to prior workshop skills training.
• Workshop Skills Training can be taken before or after registration.  If taken post-registration, it will count towards the seagoing service requirement. 
• The objective of this course is to provide students with basic theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on experience using workshop related activities, in order to meet the requirements of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) for the EOOW Small Vessel Certificate of Competency.
• Engineers will be able to complete the full experienced seafarer SV route with Bluewater.

Where do I sign up?

Our in-house engineering team have been involved with the MCA on the transition to the SV route since the beginning, and are happy to answer any queries you may have.

Previously the 1 week Y4 Skills Test would be accepted in place of this new Workshop Skills Training, but this will no longer be the case from September.

Demand will be very high so we recommend you book quickly and tick it off your list!
