Like many others, I happened upon the superyacht industry by chance. While studying International Business at the University of Stirling in Scotland, I was sent on a year’s exchange to the French Caribbean and then to business school in the South of France. These places not only brought out a newfound obsession with the sea (water sports in Scotland don’t quite have the same charm) but introduced me to the incredible world of yachting. I was instantly hooked. I worked as a stew and cook for three Mediterranean seasons during Uni holidays, and the instant my degree was completed, I was on a plane back to the French Riviera to set up a luxury concierge company.
While I was working with an UHNWI who required a yacht ‘yesterday’, I met a Bluewater broker who believed in me. He introduced me to the Bluewater directors and I was offered the job of Sales and Marketing Manager in 2008. I loved this role with a passion for 7 years and in 2015 I moved to New Zealand to start a family, run a marketing & strategy consultancy, and operate a boutique vineyard hotel, but… the yachting world kept calling me. So in late 2021, when Bluewater called, I jumped at the opportunity. I’m now back with the Bluewater family, bringing new skills and a new perspective.
My view on life? Well, I’m a firm believer that if you don’t make space in your suitcases for a snorkel or a snowboard… then you’re probably doing life wrong.
